Where do you even begin with this farce of a Commercial Release on an online game?  Well first off, I think you start by stating the obvious.

1. Panterra is buggy now, months after release. So damned buggy Fred is having to start a second server FRESH just because he could not equal out the problems in Server #1.

Do we see Panterra getting any better? Answer - no.

2. The GRAPHICS. And yes, such things do not matter to the Die-Hard RPG'er, but c'mon! Those graphics friggin HURT my eyes! You should not be insulted by the way a game looks.
3. If you are a monk, and I am a monk, and your three buddies are monks...we all could very well look JUST LIKE EACH OTHER. The customization of individual characters is so bad you could say it is non-existant. And for a late 90's CRPG - that is plain unacceptable.

The only thing Panterra had going for it was the fact that Fred and crew used to listen to the player. Well - NOW the system has turned into a few players moderating largely ignored boards...which Fred is getting rid of anyway.

Bad move Fredo - if I was yer younger brother, I'd have ta have ya taken out to go fishing ;>

SoulDemon Demon's Editorial on Panterra ~ Updated 09/13/98

Lets see here, where to start where to start. Well, what better place to start then the concepts that make up a game!

1. THE DREAM.
Panterra started out as a dream of Freds, a very good dream IMO. This dream slowly was slanted and twisted until it became the screwed up game your now playing, and paying for. How did this happen you ask? Simple, the players got the upper hand and yanked Freds chain until he altered this and tweaked that, and in the process screwed up the whole balance of the game.
2. THE COMMUNITY.
This is a major factor in the sucess of a game. I don't care what game your playing or creating, a game without a community is a dead game, PERIOD. Panterra had a great community at one time, sure there were certain people and groups (who will remain nameless to protect the innocent -WEG-) that caused problems, but all in all thats part of the larger scheme of a RPG community. The community of Panterra has slowly been hacked apart, starting with the moderation crazy staff, and IMO the opening of discussion boards about the game. Now the community of Panterra has been reduced so far, there is talk of taking away the ability for non-paying gamers who post there roleplay with there guilds by adding the posting boards and the game. Hey Fred! wake up! if we wanted UO type interface, we woulda told ya by now!
3. THE GAME ITSELF.
Well, Panterra has seen numerious tweaks and additions, as well as a few subtractions. While some of the losses have been good, they have came WAY TO LATE. Things that were pointed out in beta are just now being looked at and fixed, problems that should have been fixed when they were first found. The common answer to this, "its not part of the master plan" well hell! the designer himself stated he had no clue no more what the master plan is, does that tell you something? There's not much to say about the graphics, just those that don't work really screw the game up. (and considering the majority of the graphics don't work, well make your own opinion.)

The major gripe about the game thus far is its lack of roleplaying support. Lets face it, if your a true on-line gamer you like to roleplay, thats why the game is called "Roleplaying Game" Panterra supports no roleplay, all you do is skill, skill, skill, skill skill and ocasionally go out and kill a Lair Crit. Wooooo let me bask in the Roleplay in all that.

As you can see, the game is lacking many things. Yes there are actually aspects of the game that are quite enjoyable, but I've yet to find enough to cancel out the aspects that truely blow. Take a look around, read over some of the promises and see just how many of them have become a reality. I say damn near none of them.
