| Circle of Souls - A Brief History |
COS has entertained ourselves in multiple MMORPG's over the years, and was born out of the first online PvP game. The guild is a combination of quality hardcore and casual gamers, most of which have been here since the early years and any number of which have led their own guilds.
We are first and foremost a PvP Guild, and our gaming decisions are typically based upon this fact. But we have plenty of friends in COS that are casual and/or PvE oriented players, and they fill an important role in COS as well. However you look at it, COS has all types and we are mature players with high standards on who we want as members. But we don't ever let that get in the way of having a good time.
Neverwinter Nights - 1996:
SOUL was founded in NWN, and made a name for itself by attacking anyone and everyone in all PvP areas of the realm while wise-cracking, talking shit, and enjoying ourselves the entire time. There were a few older sanctioned guilds to handle the aged ilk, so we enjoyed the non-sanctioned crowd, and made many friends and a few enemies gating all of them.
Lords of Empyria - 1997:
We were early advisors and beta testers of LOE, and eventually deemed it pure shit. Moved on, but not before having some fun with Fred.
Ultima Online - 1997:
Circle of Souls was birthed on the Great Lakes server, and immediately went to work on staying red. After a few patches, this was easily accomplished. We were the founders of the -X- Player Killers, standing for Crossroads, which is where we first destroyed the existing neighborhoods, and then set up our own housing and killed anyone and everyone coming our way. During the three years we existed in UO, COS dominated the Crossroads and only vacated when UO:Renaissance debuted UO's Candyland version of the game.
Everquest - 1999:
Beta tested this as well, but whoops, PvP was an afterthought. Everquest, while seemingly one hell of a PvE game...does not cut it. Moving on.
Dark Age of Camelot - 2001:
COS existed on the Bedevere server, and was one of the leaders of the top alliance on the server, Flames of the Phoenix. When we decided to take all the relics, we did. When we wanted to camp the Albion Zerg at their gates, we sure as hell did. Stealth Night in Darkness Falls and keep Midgard and Albion on their staircases? Many times. However, leveling artifacts became a bore and after a few years, COS looked toward Blizzard.
Shadowbane Beta - 2003:
A handful of COS members initially launched into Shadowbane with hopes of a solid PvP game encompassing city sieges, keep attacks, etc. But after years of RvR in DAOC, Shadowbane's game mechanics and clunky feel were over-hyped. We played until the end of beta and decided not to bother.
World of Warcraft - 2004:
COS rolled on the PvP server of its day, Archimonde. While most of us detested constant bullshit questing and raiding to get solid enough gear to PvP, we did what we had to do. Then Battlegrounds and PvP gear arrived, and we were sated for a short time. But after many opposition guilds continued to exploit for arena points, no solid PvP ladder or PvP rankings, and general apathy, COS eventually abandoned WoW after four years. Sadly, nobody has done it better than Blizzard so far - and we areback in WoW as COS to this day.
Warhammer Online - 2008:
COS again began beta testing WHO in mid-year, after being disappointed with early beta testing. For release we rolled Destruction on Skull Throne Server, one of two designated PvP servers for many of the top guilds. We are allied with many friends from Bedevere DAOC, and RvR'd to our heart's content. Unfortunately, Warhammer sucked balls except for the RvR - and so we found ourselves back in WoW. See above. Yeehaw.
