As always, our own beloved NW Santa will be making stops in NeverWinter all throughout the month of December. The jolly old elf will have goodies in store for those smart and quick enough to find him, as he visits various locations in the realms. Each time Santa enters the realms, he will give a clue to his current location. The first three players who find Santa first will get gifts from him. Additionally in each visit, santa will randomly pick out a lucky adventurer who will also receive a gift. So, keep your eyes peeled, and those ears attuned to the sound of reindeer, and you may just find yourself going home with a shiny new item thanks to the man in red. Where it's NEVER Winter!!!!!!! ::Wage grins and throws the card over his shoulder:: Missive for Minerva (Submitted by: HG Tarl) "Ahhh", Tarl sighed, as he eased his bone-weary frame into the high-back oaken chair. The burnished mahogany felt cool to his touch, as the nearby fire crackled in the large fireplace of the Gilded Horseshoe Inn and Tavern. Warming his hands, Tarl smiled as Minvera Snuggles, the attractive serving maid, placed a steaming mug of spiced ale at his fire-side table. "M'thanks, M'lady" Tarl said, returning Minvera's warm smile, and eagerly scooping up the fiery drink. The ale seemed to burn it's way down into his gullet, as he quickly downed the warming liquid. "I spoke with a Lady bearing yer name this eve" Tarl said with a gasp, as he swallowed the last of the spicy drink. Minerva, had moved over to he Inn's large hearth, where she stoked the fire, sending glowing-orange spark's swirling up the fireplace chimney. "Oh, ye did M'lord?", the barmaid asked, her voice excited by the good news. Turning back towards Tarl, Minerva's cheeks were rosy-red from the heat of the fire. "The kidnapped lady Minverasun?" she asked, with a hopeful lilt in her soft, gentle voice. "Aye, indeed twas the lovely captive I didst speak with", Tarl replied with a generous smile. "She asked fer me to tell her brother and sister's of the Sun dat she tis of good health, and hast not been ' violated ', as she herself put it." "Oh, the poor dear", Minvera said with a gasp, "Ye must save her M'lord, ye just must!" Tarl's eye's narrowed has he thought of the evil Bonze. "Yes M'lady, she also gave me the words to send to the Evil One, so that I may yet purchase another clue to her rescue." "If ye would be so kind as ta bring me a parchment and quill, I shall set de words down in a missive." Minvera hurried to the large dark-oak bar, and retrieving the writing supplies, brought them back with yet another steam'n mug of the spiced ale. "Here ye are M'lord", Minerva said as she placed the implements, and drink down in front of the weary Harper with a practiced ease. "Thankye lass", Tarl said as he quickly took up the emu-quill pen and began to scrawl yet another missive to the Evil Bonze. "Don't ye worry M'lady, many goodly folk are hurry'n ta her rescue", Tarl told Minvera as he continued to write. "We'll have her back from dat Evil One soon." Tarl carefully sprinkled a small amount of sand on the ink-wet parchment. Blowing the sparkling sand off, Tarl rolled the parchment scroll up, and sealed it with hot wax from the table's candle. Gulping the last of the spiced ale, Tarl gathered up his well-worn cloak, and headed for the Longsaddle Stables. Silvermyst nickered as Tarl opened her stall door. "Yes ol girl, I am glad ta see ye too." Tarl smiled at the silver-gray lightning steed, as he swung himself up into the soft leather saddle. Leaning forward, Tarl whispered in Silvermyst's ear "To Neverwinter ol girl, where we deliver this missive, and await it's reply." "Be strong M'lady Minvera" Tarl thought as he and Silvermyst streaked west into the fading light of the setting sun. "Soon we shall find thee, and set ye free." The Face of Evil (Submitted by: HG Sharna) In the wee hours just before dawn, two shadowy figures stood huddled beneath the drafty stone edifice that served as Nasher's guard post in the center of Neverwinter Square. Their fluttering cloaks wrapped securely about their shoulders in an effort to insulate themselves against the blustery autumn winds that swept in across the river, the adventurers exchanged a laugh that reverberated off the cold granite walls in the empty square. "Strahd is it?" Sharna chuckled. "Well then, with such a name it only seems appropriate that Nasher would assign thee to the "graveyard" shift." "Aye," NW Strahd chortled nervously, his eyes fixed upon the eastern horizon. "I suppose that is so, M'lady. I just hope my relief arrives soon." Following Strahd's intense gaze eastward, Sharna turned to see the rising sun poke it's fiery head above the mist shrouded marshlands of Floodblest and stretch it's golden arms across the horizon in a blazing, yet silent yawn. Memories of another sunrise flooded Sharna's soul - a dawn shared with Renik - and she smiled. It seemed only yesterday that they lay nestled in each other's arms near the banks of the great river that winds though the west-central woods. But before Sharna could utter her understanding for Strahd's discomfort, the stillness of the dawn and the opposing reverie of the observers was shattered by the clamorous arrival of a brash woman. "Hee hee..." the seemingly intoxicated adventuress cackled, tripping and falling on to the steps that lead into the guard shack. "What a night... What a night!" "Orc Mama," Strahd stated in the monotonous tone of greeting employed by most, if not all of Nasher's guards that hid any trace of prejudice. Orc Mama responded with an evil leer that distorted her stiking, normally beautiful face, and she laughed chaotically about how she had just lured a young paladin into the Lost Hills under the pretense of helping him gain experience and, once there, how she had she promtly fee'b the unsuspecting newbie. Moments later the young paladin stumbled into the square mumbling incoherently to himself. "Wha... What happened out there?" he muttered, still oblivious to the evil treachery executed upon him by the evil Orc Mama. "Yer fee'b ya dummy!" Orc Mama roared and continued to gloat. "Here, go heal yerself," she bellowed tossing a few imperfect gems in his direction. Far from the amount he needed to cure his affliction. Shaking her head in contempt for the evil actions of the woman she now recognized as a member of UDL, Sharna presented the young man with several sparkling jewels to cover his healing expenses and led him by the arm to the nearest temple. "I trust ye have learned a lesson this night," Sharna said to the visibly shaken paladin as he emerged from the temple, his faculties fully restored? Evil wears many faces and ye must be wary of whom ye put your trust in." "Aye, milady," he responded. "Much thanks to thee. I shall indeed be cautious forthwith. I thank thee for your generosity and for thy words of wisdom." Dawn and Strahd's relief had both arrived as Sharna returned to the square. Band of new adventurers began filling the square seeking heroic exploits and experience. Swaying her shapely hips seductivly, a comely smile adorned Orc Mama's lovely face as she approached the new arrivals. An enticing smile upon a guise that even the most experienced of warriors would find irresistible. Nevertheless, a face that is in truth, a facade. A mask filled with false promises... that yields only grief... Beautiful, yes... but the face of evil. "Harper's..." Sharna wrote later after she obtained lodging at Daglow's Inn. "As much as I detest the thought of having to be away from our home and the wilds of Longsaddle, this incident confirms the need for us to spend more time within the walls of Neverwinter and its outlying areas to protect new adventurers from the likes of Orc Mama and other evils prey on the young and inexperienced. HG Sharna Lady of the Silver Harp The Harper's Guild One Drow's Life (Submitted by: Lord Sorn) My Life began down far below a world devoid of sun and snow A world where wickedness and strife were the only constants in my life A life of emptiness and fears of haunted dreams, of lies and tears A century spent below the ground one hundred years before I found A passage out, a course to take off I flew, my bonds to break On that path I made my flight in search of love, a guiding light Yet I upon the surface found my heritage still kept me down Shunned by those who lived in light forced to flee or else to fight In town and village, those within sought to flay my blackened skin So back I fled into the darkened to passion's call I did harken And lo' became an evil lure to draw the righteous to the sewer Like moths unto a wicked flame I'd smile and then their virtue claim For months I plied my lecherous skills with pleasure I stole my victims' wills And turned them to the Dark Queen's way while still I longed for the light of day T'was then she came into my life removing the sorrow and the strife Her ruby lips, Her flaxen hair Her beauty far beyond compare Yet this was not what saved my soul what cleansed my heart of darkest coal It was her heart of gold that rescued me by virtue of her radiant purity -Sornyth El'Alren Lylyl Coal Dedicated to the most beautiful and talented bard in all the realms... Syren Coal The Duel (Submitted by: Lady Hela) I was standing in the square of Neverwinter on a beautiful Monday afternoon talking to all the citizens enjoying the weather. I was exchanging stories with a young dwarf when a well dressed Drow, by the name of Nitzerreb walked up to me. At least she showed a little bit of manners when she asked me if I would like to go have a duel with her, one on one. "Ok, Meet me at the old Helm Temple in five minutes!" Nitzer said. All that went through my mind was a chance to strike down evil. When I got to the temple, just east out of Neverwinter, I imagined what a most wonderful place this must of been in its prime. For now it was in ruins, The ceiling barely held up, and moss grew out of the numerous carcks in the walls. I walked inside and started to chant some protection spells when out of the shadows Nitzer blindsided me. "Now feel Lloths wraith!!!" she screamed as she chanted Feeblemind, the favorite spells of the drow. The Drows spell Didn't work!!! I had only one chance to beat her so I recited the ruins of my scroll which contained Hold Monster. Nitzer started to point a wand at me when she suddenly froze. "NOW YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR EVIL WAYS!!!" I screamed as I lured the kobold which lived here, Over to The motionless Elf. With One quick blow the kobold thrusted his short sword inbetween the shoulderblades of Nitzerreb. I threw the kobold a pouch of platnum as I left the temple. "Don't let this go to your ego." my mind was telling me. "You may have won a battle but the war is far from over." I did Have Nizerrebs approval for using her real name in this story Invitation (Submitted by: Bloodr0se) WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE GILDED LADY TAVERN As you walk through the doors you are greeted by the sounds of laughter and dancin music. Liandra smiles at the pirate she is talkin to and saunters your way. Sky blue and platinum silk hugging her body and rustling as she makes her way through the tables to greet you. " Lo there luvs," she says in a husky feminine voice. " What'll be your pleasure this eve? The bar is open and serving your favorites, the girls will be putting on another show at the top of the hour, there is gambling in the back and good company at every turn." Her dark blue eyes study you and she gives you a wink, a toss of her jet black hair and a laugh as she leads you off to a table near the stage. She gets you seated and motions for Twynkle to come over and take your drink orders as she moves off to greet her next guests. You area bit surprised that your well-intended pat missed it's mark, then chuckle to yourself as you see her miss every one on her way back to the door without once seeming to do so. She seats the next group at the bar and Slvrbeard greets them and sets them up with a round. The night is young and the options many. Come on in and explore and enjoy yourselves. Twynkle saunters throughout the crowd as well, serving drinks and being cajoled into a dance or two. Until of course a fight breaks out over who gets the next dance....
